1.Clean Gi with patch sewn on. (Go to Sewing Services and Alterations)

2. Remove the outside company labels.

3. Show Warrior Spirit both on the deck and during testing. Test begins when you walk on the deck.

4. Be on time.

                Ro-kyu (one green tip) $10.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made  payable to Dennis Flynn or cash. Must show proper courtesy, membership paid in full, and perform Fukyugata Ichi.

                Go-kyu (second green tip) $20.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable to Dennis Flynn or cash. Must show proper courtesy, membership paid in full, and perform Fuyugata Ichi and Fuyugata Ni.                  

                Yellow Belt (Children rank) $25.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable to Dennis Flynn or cash. Minimum of 6 months of training. Perform Fukyuata 1-3, Yakussoku kumite 1, and show proper courtesy.

​             Yon-kyu (green belt) $60.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable  to SRKUSA or cash. Minimum of 6 months training, Perfrom Fukyuata 1-3, Oyotanren and  Yakusoku Kumite 1, show proper courtesy. sponsorship from your black belt sempai, membership paid in full. minimum of 2 classes per week Oyotanren, breaking technique,  help the lower ranks by training vigorously and answering questions.

             San-kyu (Brown Tips) $30.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable  to Dennis Flynn or cash. Minimum of 6 months training as Yon-kyu, Perform Fukyugata 1-3,  Pinian 1-2, Yakusoku kumite 1-2, attend some of the other dojo functions, show proper  courtesy, membership paid in full, minimum of 2 classes per week, Oyotanren, breaking  technique, help with dojo upkeep, assist in training of lower ranks.

             Orange Belt (Children rank) $35.00 and a paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made  payable to Dennis Flynn or cash. Recommended minimum of 12 months training as San-kyu,  Fukyugata 1-3, Pinan 1-5, Yakusoku kumite 1-2, attend other dojo functions, display teaching skills.

             Ni-kyu (Brown belt) $80.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable  to SRKUSA or cash. Recommended minimum of 12 months training as San-kyu, Fukyugata 1-3, Pinan 1-5, Yakusoku kumite 1-3, attend other dojo functions, display teaching skills.

             Ik-kyu (black tips) $40.00 and paragraph on why you take Karate. Test fee made payable to Dennis Flynn or cash. Minimum of 12 months training as Ni-kyu, Fukyugata 1-3, Pinan 1-5, Niahanchi 1, Yakusoku Kumite 1-3, attend other dojo functions, display teaching skills and  display controlled fighting skills.

Please be sure that your fee and paragraph is in an envelope with your name on the outside of the envelope, be sure to give the requirements to your Shihan no later than one week before the test date.





Black Belt Kata Guidelines:

   These are the minimum time requirements for each Black belt kata. In addition to the minimum times each Black belt must receive permission in advance from Hanshi or his/her Shihan* to behin a new kata. In most cases Hanshi or the Shihan will encourage a Black belt to wait.

                 Ik-Kyu: May begin learning a weapon kata (optional). Must learn Naihanchi nidan, Nihanchi sandan, and Ananku to test for Sho-don.

                     Sho-Don: May learn a weapon Wankan a couple months after attaining rank. May learn  Rohai approximately 1-2 years after Wankan. May learn Wanshu approximately 1-2 years after Rohai. Must demonstrate all kata up to and including Wankan to test for Ni-Dan.

                     Ni-Dan: May learn Passai approximately1-2 years after Wanshu. Must demonstrate all kata up to  and including Wanshu to test for San-Dan.                                                                                                     


                    San-Dan: May learn Chinto approximately 2-3 years after Passai. Must demonstrate one  Fuygata Pinan and Naihanchi kata and all Black belt kata up to and including Passai to test for Yon-Dan.

                     Yon-Dan: May learn Gojushiho approximately 3 years after Chinto. Must demonstrate  one Fuyugata, Pinan and Naihanchi kata and all black belt kata up to and including Chinto to test for Go-Dan.

                     Go-Dan: Must demonstrate one Fukyugata, Pinan and Naihanchi kata and all Black belt  kata up to and including Gojushiho to test for Roku-Dan.

                     Roku-Dan: May learn Kusanku after receiving permission from Hanshi. Must  demonstrate one Fuyugata, Pinan and Naihanchi kata and all Black belt kata up to and                                          inculding Kusankuto test for Shichi-Dan.

* Shihan/Club Directors without a formal Sensei should receive permission from Hanshi or a Kyoshi
